Executive Leadership in the Nonprofit Sector – School of Business MacEwan
This post-diploma certificate program is an 18-month course consisting of classroom and online learning. Courses include organizational and community development, board governance, human resources, financial and fund development, and government and regulatory issues.

This program was developed in response to the need to provice quality executive leadership training for both those in those in the sector and those wanting to enter the sector at a leadership level.

Government of Canada Voluntary Sector Task Force
The VSI is a joint initiative to strengthen the capacity of the voluntary sector and to enhance the relationship between the sector and the Government of Canada.

International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE) 
An international non-governmental organization that promotes, celebrates, and strengthens volunteerism worldwide. IAVE has currently approximately 800 individual and organizational members in about 100 countries.

Mentoring Canada
A program of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada made possible only through the support of the Muttart Foundation. Its primary focus is to promote and support mentoring initiatives in communities across Canada.

Provincial Government Board Development Program (BDP)
The mission of the BDP is to promote and encourage not-for-profit governance and offer a unique volunteer leadership opportunity. They achieves thier goal through workshop design and delivery, volunteer instructor training and management, resource development, consultations, partnerships and peer-to-peer relationships.

Resource Centre for Voluntary Organizations (RCVO)
RCVO contributes to the vitality and capacity of Alberta’s nonprofit community through knowledge, resources and learning opportunities. Their website provides information about its free consultation and referral services, access to the RCVO library catalogue, a full archive of Connections newsletters, frequently asked questions and step-by-step guides, book sales, annotated links, and the latest news and events of interest to the voluntary sector.

St. Albert Community Information and Volunteer Centre 
Serving the St. Albert community and surrounding communities with their volunteer centre, community information hotline, babysitting registry and certified babysitting courses, nonprofit agency management assistance and Sidekicks (an adult/youth mentoring program).

Statistics Canada
Produces statistics on population, resources, economy, society and culture relevant to the nonprofit and voluntary sector.

The Canadian Administrators of Volunteer Resources (CAVR)
CAVR is the only National Professional Association that offers ongoing certification in the field of volunteer resources management.

Information and Referral specialists can give you information about organizations, matching the cause or issue that matters to you or the population you want to serve. The Volunteer Management Group (VMG)
